The Unsung Heroes of Gibsons Curling Club: Celebrating National Volunteer Week

This National Volunteer Week, we are delighted to shine a spotlight on the incredible volunteers at the Gibsons Curling Club (GCC). Thanks to their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication, GCC continues to thrive as a hub for the local curling community, fostering not only athletic development, but also camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The Gibsons Curling Club, a fixture in our community since its inception in 1976, has been the training ground for countless curlers, both beginners and seasoned pros. None of this would be possible without the selfless dedication of its volunteers, who have devoted countless hours to making sure the facility is well-maintained, welcoming, and accessible to all.

From building maintenance to organizing leagues, bonspiels, and fundraisers, the volunteers at GCC are the backbone of the club. They take pride in creating an environment where curlers of all ages and skill levels can come together, share their passion for the sport, and forge lasting friendships.

We'd like to thank these people for their hours of service this past year:

- Bar Committee & all the volunteer servers who have their Serving it Right certification
- Building Committee & everyone who puts in time or skills to maintain our facilities
- Bonspiel organizers (fall funspiel, winter open, and spring fling) and Curling Day in Canada leaders
- Board members for their many roles and leadership
- On-Ice volunteers who helped us run countless bonspiels, clinics, and events this year
- League Coordinators who help run our regular league play
- All the Flea Market volunteers who keep this popular event running as a fundraiser and community event

- Everyone else who helped with our sponsors, technology, publicity, membership, registration, kitchen, rentals, and ice.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the volunteers at the Gibsons Curling Club. Their hard work and enthusiasm have made the club an integral part of our community. Their dedication to the sport and the people who love it is a testament to the power of volunteerism and the positive impact it can have on all of us.

To the volunteers at GCC, we say thank you. Your efforts have touched the lives of many and have made the Gibsons Curling Club a true community treasure. This week, and every week, we celebrate and appreciate you. Happy National Volunteer Week!
